Managing Director - Wellow Full Time | Remote

Wellow’s Managing Director is the key executive responsible for stewarding our next phase of growth. The role is responsible for all aspects of the company's operations, including strategy, sales, marketing, finance, and team management, teamed with a small cohort of internal staff, working with wholly-owned internal partners at other XenoPsi companies who have been growing the brand since inception to drive. Wellow’s Managing Director is an experienced and strategic driver of growth with a proven track record of success in DTC companies with $20-$50M in revenue who derives energy and joy from the job’s core focus: maximizing profitability, expanding market reach, and building a strong brand presence in the compression sock industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

  • Create and lead the company's strategic plan aligning with the vision and goals developed in partnership with the XenoPsi Ventures Leadership Team.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of resource planning, vendor selection, and in-house team planning, ensuring the right resources are in place to drive brand success.
  • Be our in-house leader on industry trends, competitors, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Represent Wellow in the press, at conferences, and other relevant platforms to enhance brand visibility and networking opportunities.

Financial Oversight & Risk Management

  • In partnership with XenoPsi Shared Services’ Finance team, develop and manage the company's annual budget, ensuring financial targets are met and resources are allocated effectively.
  • Own P&L management to enhance profitability and manage budgets effectively.
  • Ensure financial performance metrics are met by analyzing key metrics and implementing strategies to drive revenue growth and cost optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with XenoPsi Ventures’ Demand Planning and Operations teams to plan and track inventory availability.

Sales and Marketing

  • Partner with wholly owned and operated Function Growth to develop effective strategies to drive customer acquisition, retention, and brand loyalty.
  • Ensure the team regularly identifies new market opportunities, customer segments, and product offerings to drive revenue growth and market share.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement compelling marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, social media, and traditional advertising.
  • Provide leadership to the brand marketing team as they develop best-in-class creative that resonates with our target audience.

Product Development

  • Work closely with the XenoPsi Venture team to identify customer needs, gather market insights, and drive product innovation and enhancements.
  • Partner with the product and marketing teams to create a yearly product roadmap, optimize offerings, and ensure successful new releases and limited-time offers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless product launches and strong product-market fit between audiences and product development.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, retail partners, distributors, and influencers, to expand Wellow's product development capabilities.

EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is required (MBA preferred).
  • An established track record of direct-to-consumer eCommerce and digital marketing experience, with at least five years in a senior management role at a DTC company (min. $30M annual revenue) is required.
  • Deep, entrepreneurial COO-level experience managing partners, vendors, and a small staff is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience with recent experience in a senior leadership role, ideally as a Managing Director or similar, within the consumer goods industry, is required.
  • A demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth and profitability through strategic planning and execution is required.

  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Passion for the consumer goods industry, wellness, and a strong understanding of direct-to-consumer business models.
  • Strong knowledge of standard technical requirements and best practices surrounding eCommerce, fulfillment, and consumer support.
